We present a pure, organic tea for health, fasting, meditation composed of the finest loose herbal tea ingredients of: Stinging Nettle leaf, Moringa leaf, Three Holy Basil Tulsi, and Red and Blue Tibetan Lotus flowers.

It is a key to health, physical, mental and spiritual to feel cleansed, purified, light and energetic. To take in processed, heavy foods, is to feel full but also weighted, dense, and heavy. These foods are hard to digest, and thus they leave a residue in the body, known as ama, which is a filth and waste that the body must purge for true health. This is why so many digestive issues are so pervasive and common foods now cause allergic type reactions. Fasting and detoxification are necessary to cleanse and allow the deep waste products of the body to be flushed out. These require protocols that still give essential nutrients and that aid in detox by bringing down inflammation, controlling blood sugar spikes, and giving the body what it needs to thrive and repair while the accrued excrement, biofilms, parasitic waste and such are excreted.

This is a famous Siddha blend found in the Himalayas. It is based on writings of Nagarjuna but also partakes of the lore of Siddha Milarepa. The outlaw turned saint, this saint and his lineage have deep herbal and medical knowledge and is a prime tradition we studied under for decades with formal initiations and empowerments. The story goes that after Milarepa had finished studying with the tantric master Marpa, “… he roamed the land in search of a suitable place for meditation. Along the way farmers fed him with grains and cereals. Later, his sister Peta offered him bread, butter, and wine. In the years between, he meditated in White Rock Cave, where there was a stream with good water and a patch of stinging nettles. From the nettle Milarepa made cloth to cover his body, and flour for inner nourishment. Eventually his skin took on the color of nettle, and even the hairs on his head became bristly and green.”

This poem reflects the Yogi’s attitude to fasting with the simple herb:

If stinging nettle
Is all there is to eat, well…
What could be better?
Mountain people are simple,
Valley people use a hoe

Stinging nettle has been used for hundreds of years to treat painful muscles and joints, eczema, arthritis, gout, and anemia. Today, many people use it to treat urinary problems during the early stages of an enlarged prostate (called benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH). Nettle leaf is a rich source of antioxidants, which are needed for reducing the number of free radicals in your system. I stinging nettle leaf are known for increasing the amount of free (active) testosterone by binding the testosterone inhibitor sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG).

To this we also add organic, temple grown Moringa leaf: Moringa oleifera leaves are almost 25% protein, which is unusually high for a plant. Moringa Powder contains 9 essential amino acids making it a complete source of protein, supporting the growth and maintenance of muscle mass. We source the best and freshest (we will have seeds up soon), as we use this ourselves in many of our personal fasting protocols. Moringa is called nebedaye throughout Africa, which means “never die.” This miracle tree is called “never die” because those that plant will have a sure source of nutrient dense superfood as well as medicine. Moringa oleifera, commonly called the ‘drumstick tree”, or horseradish tree, absorbs soil minerals and nutrients like few other plants and stores them in a rich, bioavailable food source that sustains millions around the world. It is known to boost energy, but not as a sugar which means a crash will come, but as a sustainable increase in nutrients that boost energy. But studies and folk use also describe it as mentally calming. Moringa is said to be soothing. It helps lower blood pressure and is a sleep aid. Its detoxifying effect may come from Moringa’s ability to purify water. Moringa acts as a coagulant attaching itself to harmful material and bacteria. It is believed that this process is taking place in the body as well. The leaves of Moringa oleifera are nature’s multi-vitamin providing 7 x the vitamin C of oranges, 4 x the calcium of milk, 4 x the vitamin A of carrots, 3 x the potassium of bananas, and 2 x the protein of yogurt. On top of that, science is proving Moringa to be a power house of nutrients. See also our Moringa Leaf Powder in shop.

To this we add three holy Basil, tulsi, organic grown and mineral dense from the mountain temples of Nepal. Holy basil has been shown to boost your body’s health in a variety of ways. It can help protect against infection, lower your blood sugar, lower your cholesterol, ease joint pain, and protect your stomach. Holy basil is rich in vitamin K, a fat-soluble micronutrient that helps support heart health and bone mineralization. In fact, one-half cup of fresh leaves contains almost your full daily recommended intake of vitamin K. It is much beloved as a spiritual medicinal herb, as it imparts a sense of well-being, clarity and a spiritual calm that is important for meditation. See also our Five Holy Basil Tea in shop.

Finally, we round out this liquid empowerment, and it is blessed and produced by the devotee in the temples, with red and blue Tibetan lotus petals. These are the essence of the Dharma, the flowers that emerge out of the muck and filth. They are soma herbs as well, imparting a gentle peace and infusing the internal atmosphere with a sense of calm-abiding. Such precious herbs, when they are met with skillful means, upward striving, sincere effort, purifications and fasting can literally “liberate through tasting” (myong grol ) in Vajrayana teachings. This is because the herbs are signature of divine intelligence, of the Dharma, they are the embodiment of natural processes that coalesce into beauty, and they are a silent sermon or teaching into the deepest mysteries of life. The combination of these precious herbs is the full-spectrum healing tea, for fasting, for meditation, for purifications, for ritual.

The Way is simple but not easy. Find some remote area alone, brew tea, meditate in silence. Guard the spirit, close the senses, quiet the whisperer within. Seal the nine gates, let the original spirit arise within and use the mind and breath to circulate it to all the corners within the body. This is the microcosmic kingdom. Let the silence abide, and out of the depths of the inner dark let the blue seed form in swirling independent arising. Wash off the red dust and stabilize this energy and one will be liberated.
