This is a sacred copal from Indonesia, where used as a primary resin in their Buddhist fire rituals and blended into the sacred incenses of their unique and ancient esoteric Buddhism. It is very solar, and sattvic, giving intellectual “empowerment through fragrance” called Elephant Tree for its power of memory. When it is found in other countries like in South America it is always associated with shamanic contexts and spiritual protection. Likewise it was use in ancient Indonesia and Java for shamanic worship that carried over into the esoteric Buddhism. It was also used medicinally for many crafts and to fill in tooth decay. Ritually it is cleansing, aids in mental and spiritual growth, and stimulates creativity and imagination.
